About Nicolo
Nicolò Rebughini is a Senior Software Engineer at Nebulab, where I build resilient eCommerce systems for world-class brands using Ruby, Rails, and Shopify. Recent projects include recommendation engines and unconventional storefronts that handle thousands of orders per week.
Before writing Ruby for a living, I spent a decade in cinema post-production, an experience that gave me deep attention to detail, and had me explain complex things in simple terms. That career switch taught me that curiosity and perseverance can unlock domains that feel impossibly out of reach. Also, having a non-ASCII character in your name creates entertaining bugs in approximately 40% of computer systems.
I bring that same philosophy to my work and my talks: you don’t need a PhD to build sophisticated systems. Sometimes you just need to solve a real problem with the tools you have, and pay close attention to what you accidentally build along the way.
