Beyond Code: Engineering the Future, Where African Software Engineering Must Go

Africa is entering a defining moment in its technological journey. For decades, we have largely consumed the world’s software, platforms, and digital infrastructure. The next chapter, however, will not be written by those who consume technology, it will be written by those who build it, own it, and shape its future.

In this keynote, Sanmi Amos challenges software engineers to think beyond programming languages and frameworks, and embrace a broader vision of engineering. Through lessons drawn from software engineering, cybersecurity, distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and open source, he explores what it will take for Africa to produce software that is resilient, secure, globally competitive, and worthy of the world’s trust.
